DUNNVILLE—On a terrible winter day on February 10, 2019, the South Cayuga United Church held an open house in honour of Amy Link’s 101st birthday.

In spite of the weather, about 200 people attended, which surprised Link. She said, “A couple of my friends from Hamilton called to say that because of the weather they couldn’t come out and that they were sorry that they missed it.”

Asked if there was a secret to living to 101, Link said, “I don’t know if there’s a secret or not, but I just kept going.”

Link was born to Gilbert and Erie Pridmore of South Cayuga on February 8, 1918. She married Wilfred Link when she was 20 years old in the home on her parent’s farm in 1938. Link happily recalls, “I went out and got water lilies, because they were right by the river, and decorated the room.”
