On Wednesday, April 17, 2019 the 4-H Canfield Ultimate Cookie Experience had their fourth meeting. Our youth leader, Andrew Huitema, welcomed the members. Our President, Caitlyn Thompson, led us in the 4-H Pledge. She did roll call and asked each member what they learned about cake decorating and what was their favourite part of the evening.

Andrew Huitema talked to us about bar cookies. Bar cookies are a cross between a cookie and cake. Soft dough is poured or pressed into a baking pan (sometimes in layers – single layers like brownies or multiple layers like date squares) and cut into portions (either square or rectangular). Bar cookies are the easiest to make because several batches can be baked at one time. When you make bar cookies you can line the pan with waxed or parchment paper to make it easier to remove the bars for cutting. Andrew told us that perfect bar cookies are well cut, moist, have a nice crust, and a good flavour.
