HALDIMAND—The hockey season is well under way across Haldimand.
Haldimand has no presence in the Junior B division this year as the Caledonia Corvairs have taken a one- year leave of absence from the league in order to re-group for the 2019-2020 season after falling short last year.
Haldimand still has two representatives in the Junior C division: Hagersville Hawks and Dunnville Mudcats.
The Hawks are currently sitting at fourth in the Southbloomfield Division of eight teams. Hagersville has had nine wins, seven regular-time losses, two overtime losses, and one tie so far. Their games have been tight, with a total of 49 goals for and 45 goals against.
The Hawks were set to play the Hespeler Shamrocks on November 20 after press time and again on November 24; they defeated the Shamrocks twice this season, both times in a 3-0 shutout.
Next, they will head to the Niagara RiverHawks’ ice on November 22; Hagersville was bested by the RiverHawks in overtime during their first match, but have since stepped up their game to take the last two bouts. Sunday, November 25, 2018 the Hawks will face off against the Port Dover Sailors, who they defeated 5-2 in their first match before falling in the second match 3-2.
