Hagersville Food Bank

By Hagersville Food Bank

HAGERSVILLE—Our volunteers at the Hagersville Food Bank are getting preparations underway for our 2018 Christmas Hamper Program. With the generosity of our community, we hope to make Christmas a little brighter for the almost 80 families living in the town of Hagersville or within its six designated rural routes.

The Hagersville Food Bank will offer a Christmas Hamper Program to individuals who receive social assistance (Employment Insurance, Welfare, Ontario Works, Family Benefits, Disability Pension) and/or are low income according to current year Statistics Canada Low Income Guidelines. A hamper consists of a turkey or ham dinner with extra food supplies for Christmas Day together with a gift for each family member. All registered clients of the Hagersville Food Bank will automatically be eligible for a Christmas hamper and will be given the opportunity to apply during our regular food bank hours.

The Christmas Hampers will be distributed on December 21 this year. The Hagersville Food Bank will be open to receive donations from 9 a.m. until 12 noon starting Thursday mornings during the month of December. Please contact us if you have a large donation, so we can arrange a time for drop off. For more information, please call the Hagersville Food Bank at 289-758-3789. Please refer to our “Wish List” for some suggestions of items that are greatly needed:

It is the neighbourly spirit and community pride that provides Dunnville Community & Family Services with the resources to help hundreds of individuals and families each month. When you support your local food bank, what you are doing is helping people hold onto their dignity. Children who are hungry. Families who are struggling to climb their way out of poverty. A neighbour who has just fallen sick or lost a job. In their dark hour, you are the silver lining … a Christmas miracle! Any donation whether food, toys, or monetary, will go a long way toward easing the struggle of our most vulnerable neighbours.
