DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, May 10\, 2025 at 7:30 PM\, for one night only\, the beautiful musical drama Ruth will be presented by acclaimed performing company Arcady Ensemble at St. Andrew’s United Church in Brantford. Ruth is a moving story of immigration and welcoming newcomers into one’s homeland. The drama follows the life of Ruth\, an independent\, strong\, and hopeful woman as she searches for a better life for herself and her people. Written in 1996 with words by librettist Roger Bayley and music by Ronald Beckett (both residents of Brantford)\, Ruth has been performed by Arcady and other ensembles in Canada and the US over the past 29 years\, marking May 10th as the 25th known performance to date. This special production will feature a cast of past and present Arcady Emerging Artists headed by Cristina Pisani as Ruth\, Ben Wallace as Boaz\, Anjelique Croteau as Naomi\, and Sophia Korz as Orpah. This outstanding cast will be supported by Arcady’s professional chorus\, orchestra\, dancers\, and youth chorus with the composer himself\, Ronald Beckett\, leading the company as musical director. DESCRIPTION:Started in 2015 by Knights of Columbus St. Patrick’s Council 9300\, the annual Caledonia Community Chili-Fest has assisted local families in crisis with children who are either very ill or have a challenging condition that requires major medical treatment/support and community assistance. \nThe event has raised $200\,000 since 2015 to assist these worthwhile families through the support of our community\, local businesses\, and organizations.
