FISHERVILLE—Recently, The Press reported on the situation facing Fisherville residents Aaron and Chelsea Hughes after they invested $126,000 into the construction of a tiny home they never ended up receiving.

On May 3, 2023, Philip Bradley, the owner of Little Creek Homes, the company hired by the Hughes, was arrested on nine counts of fraud over $5,000 by Halton Regional Police.

The Press spoke with the Hughes, who provided a statement following Bradley’s arrest: “We have experienced some relief from this new turn of events. It helps us to know there are others on our side with the best intentions to bring justice to us and all of the others that have been affected,” said the statement.

They noted, however, that the arrest doesn’t help them much beyond allowing them to continue with their civil case, adding, “It’s been difficult to serve Philip as I think he’s been trying to avoid being served. Him being arrested definitely helps us continue further, as the arrest provides us with helpful information and situations for our civil case. We still don’t have confidence we’ll see much, if any, type of return unfortunately at this time.”

Regardless, the Hughes said that the arrest, and the support they have received following media coverage of their ordeal, has helped them to process their situation.

“It helps us tell our story so we can help potential others from falling for the same or similar situations. It also ensures Philip won’t be able to do this again as information on the internet stays on there forever. We want to make sure if we don’t get our money back, we can at least prevent him from doing this again to many others.”

They continued, “We also hope this information now being out in the public and shared with the public will remind tiny home companies and home builders with ill intentions that they can’t continue to take advantage of people. Eventually, people will rise up and fight back against wrongdoings.”

The Hughes currently have an active GoFundMe page set up, where they are seeking donations to help recover from the massive financial loss they endured from losing their purchased home. It can be found online at:
