HALDIMAND—The start of a new year is a great time to reflect on the past 365 days, and to prepare for the challenges 2021 will bring.

The Haldimand Press spoke with the six Haldimand County councillors to find out some of their favourite accomplishments of 2020 and to get a sense of their goals for 2021 and beyond in their respective wards.

Stewart Patterson – Ward 1

“We were able to move Ward 1 forward on many initiatives,” said Ward 1 Councillor Stewart Patterson.

“Consolidated customer service and reducing the footprint of Haldimand County buildings began many years ago and finally came to fruition with the opening of the new Cayuga Administration Building,” listed Patterson as examples of work done in 2020.

He added, “Bringing broadband/highspeed internet to the entire County began as Council collectively awarded the project to a local provider in September. Installation will begin in Ward 1 as they roll the project eastward.”
