CALEDONIA—The Caledonia Knights of Columbus hosted its annual Chili Cook Off on April 20, with the raised funds supporting eight local families with a child in need of medical care. Organizer Mike Zyma stated, “Our cause is worth it, our event is fun entertainment, the food is fantastic.” Over 100 volunteers from various schools and community groups ensured the event ran smoothly; with some shown above left working away in the kitchen.
The entertainment included Ray’s Reptile Zoo and performances by Caledonia Studio of Dance and the band Pipe Down. Community spirit awards for special support were bestowed on: Glanford Iron, Caledonia Jewelry, Caledonia Legion, the late Anne McAlpine (long time judge), and the Caledonia Fair. “A truly great time had by all with a cause that was definitely worthy, the environment was fun and entertaining, and the food was fantastic,” added Zyma. “This event makes you feel glad you came, both in your stomach and in your heart.”
