Local arrested following suspicious vehicle complaint: OPP still seeking two individuals in second vehicle that fled the area

DUNNVILLE—Haldimand OPP has charged a 40-year-old individual with multiple offences after investigating a suspicious vehicle complaint on Haldimand Road 17 in Dunnville.

On Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 11:21 a.m., OPP responded to Haldimand Road 17 for a report of a suspicious vehicle.

OPP located the vehicle at an address and noticed another vehicle with several people nearby.

As police approached the vehicles, a male and a female entered a newer model red Ford F150 pickup truck and quickly accelerated, striking a home and another vehicle in the process.

The vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed. Attempts to stop the vehicle were unsuccessful.

Investigation determined the Ford F150 that had fled the scene was on file as stolen. The vehicle was last seen travelling eastbound on Haldimand Road 17. The vehicle and suspects remained outstanding as of press time.

An individual at the scene was located and OPP investigation lead to the recovery of a large quantity of tools.

A search conducted also revealed the individual was in possession of a prohibited weapon.

OPP has charged a 40-year-old of Dunnville with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition

The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga.
