RIDE spot-check results in charges

DUNNVILLE—An individual was arrested at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot-check on Rainham Road, Dunnville.

On February 22, 2024, at approximately 11 p.m., members of the Haldimand OPP were checking drivers for sobriety. A motor vehicle entered the RIDE check point and upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent that they had consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered at the roadside. The driver was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.  

As a result of the investigation, a 56-year-old of Dunnville has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on April 9, 2024.
