JARVIS—On January 13, 2024 at approximately 3:50 p.m. the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Highway 3 in Jarvis.
The initial investigation determined that a pick-up truck parked at a business was occupied by two people who appeared to be sleeping.
Police established the vehicle had been reported stolen and both individuals were taken into custody.
Further investigation revealed that a sexual assault had occurred.
A 40-year-old from London has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Imitation Firearm – Use While Committing Offence
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5,000
- Sexual Assault
- Assault With a Weapon
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm (two counts)
- Uttering Threats – Cause Bodily Harm or Death (two counts)
- Forcible Confinement
- Fail to comply With Probation Order
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5,000
