CALEDONIA—While work is progressing on Argyle and Haddington streets in Caledonia, there was an unplanned closure and water service disruption last week after existing valves unexpectedly required replacement. Despite this unforeseen work, paving is expected to begin the evening of September 29, 2019 and the project is on target for “substantial completion in the middle of October”, said County staff.

To date, Argyle Street has seen new curbs and sidewalks on the west side from Forfar to Haddington and (partially) from Haddington to Celtic/Braemar. It has also seen the installation of new storm sewer and sanitary/watermain connections in coordination with the new Wendy’s development, which is being paid for by Wendy’s. Currently workers are completing the driveway entrances; finishing the curb and sidewalk replacements on the east side; milling off the old surface asphalt and doing base repairs; finishing the unexpected water valve replacements; and completing connections for new watermains on Fife and Renfrew. The next step is to finish the concrete work and asphalt base repair, then begin paving at the end of the month.
