$1 turns into $100,000: Caledonia resident celebrates lottery win

CALEDONIA—Saying “yes” to Encore paid off for Catherine Bond of Caledonia. She matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the September 30, 2022 Lotto Max draw to win $100,000!

Catherine, a postal worker, says she’s won smaller amounts in the past, but nothing this big. “I’m a regular player and I always add Encore,” she shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her cheque.

The mother of five and grandmother of seven checked her ticket using the OLG App when she discovered her win.

“I was shaking so bad when I went to validate my ticket. I was shocked!” she said. “My husband was the first person I told, and he didn’t believe me at all.”

Catherine plans to put her win toward home renovations.

The winning ticket was purchased at Longo’s on Wilson Street in Ancaster.
