HAGERSVILLE — On April 29, 2023 at approximately 5:38 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment, Haldimand County Fire Department, and Paramedic Services responded to an emergency 911 call for an incident at a Hagersville address. It was determined that a three-year-old child was located unresponsive in the family pool.
Emergency Services arrived and subsequently transported the child to a hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
The Haldimand County OPP Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation. The death is not being treated as suspicious and no further details are being released by OPP.
A Hagersville resident posted to the Facebook group Hagersville Plouffe Survey Neighbourhood Check In stating that “we had a family in our survey experience a horrific tragedy yesterday” and requested area residents “come together and show support” through donations for grocery and local restaurant gift cards to help cover the family’s meals in their time of grieving.
