Haldimand 4-H held their Go for the Gold competition on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the Canfield Hall.

There were two junior teams and one senior team with members from the Beef, Rabbit, Celebrations, and Field Crops clubs who competed in answering questions about various 4-H topics.

4-H members are between the ages of 9 and 21 and participate in livestock and lifestyle clubs.

The 4-H motto is “Learn To Do By Doing” and the group is a place where farming and non-farming youth have the chance to do activities, camps, and other events both locally and provincially.

Since there was only one senior team, parents, family members, and former 4-H members stepped up to play against the senior team.

One winning team for the night was the Junior Beef team, including Simon Burrill, Isaac Tjepkema, Oliver Burrill, Rachel Iacurti, and Aubree Luscombe. They narrowly won out against the Junior Rabbit team, which included Madalynn Croft, Kailey Croft, Morgan Pearce, and Sydney Vaarkamp.

The Senior team consisted of Harley Atkinson, Gabriela Kott, Bethany Burrill, and Zoë Tjepkema. The junior and senior wining team members were presented with a $25 gift card.

It was a fun evening and everyone enjoyed pizza, veggies, chocolate milk, and ice cream for supper.

We would like to thank the Ontario Mutuals for sponsoring this event and also thanks to all the volunteers and family members for coming out to support this event.
