EMPIRE CORNERS—On Saturday, March 9, 2019 the Haldimand 4-H Woodworking Club had the opportunity to tour Slack Lumber in Empire Corners. Jim Shannon taught the club members about the different types of wood, dimensions, and uses for spruce, pine, oak, maple, Baltic birch, plywood, pressure treated, OSB boards, and tongue and groove.

Mr. Shannon also explained about their drywall products, cement products, insulation, and their installation programs. We had the opportunity to see blueprints and learn the importance of having blueprints prepared before starting a project so that you know the dimensions of your project and how much material you will need. Slack Lumber was kind enough to give each of us a Slack Lumber carpenter pencil.
