NANTICOKE—As Ontario Power Generation (OPG) continues to clear the Nanticoke Generating Station (NGS) site, the next step will be to demolish the powerhouse. OPG will be holding an information session on Monday, July 29, 2019 to learn about the demolition. The drop-in session will be held at the Nanticoke Community Hall from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
OPG has already cleared existing equipment and buildings at the site in order to build the Nanticoke Solar Facility, having completed this 44-megawatt solar facility at the NGS site earlier this year.
At the NGS site, work has been done to remove and level the coal pile, remove the coal yard structures and conveyers, remove smaller structures, and clean out the powerhouse in preparation for demolition.
