CAYUGA—Haldimand OPP is investigating a three vehicle collision that sent three individuals to hospital. The collision occurred on Highway 3 in Cayuga.
 
On Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 10:30 a.m., OPP, Haldimand County Fire Services and Haldimand County paramedics responded to Highway 3 between Decewsville Road and Dry Lake Road for a three vehicle collision. Witnesses reported a tractor trailer was involved. It was further reported that a female was trapped inside one of the vehicles.
 
Haldimand County Fire Services extricated the 47-year-old female passenger and paramedics transported the female to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
OPP investigation, thus far, has determined a blue Ford F150 pickup truck was travelling westbound on Highway 3 waiting for traffic to pass in order to turn left into a private driveway when it was struck from behind by a westbound white Dodge Ram pickup truck.
 
The momentum of the impact caused the Ford F150 to go into the eastbound lane where it struck the rear left corner of an eastbound tractor trailer.
 
The 18-year-old male driver of the F150 pickup truck and the 45-year-old male driver of the Dodge Ram pickup truck were both transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The 57-year-old male driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
 
Highway 3 was closed between Decewsville Road and Dry Lake Road for approximately three and a half hours while emergency crews were on scene.
