New veteran banners on display in Caledonia

CALEDONIA—The Caledonia BIA is proud to announce that 14 new veteran banners have been put on display for all to view on Argyle Street South and Caithness Street East.

For the first time, we have a married couple on a Caledonia banner – Lt. (N/S) Margaret E. Cowie, R.C.A.M.C., 1944-46 and Major G. Raymond Cowie, Irish Regiment, 1942-1946.

While gathering information for the new banners, family and friends shared stories about the veteran’s bravery, sacrifices, and intense pride. If I may share one story in particular – My daughter Elizabeth and I were looking at the new veteran banners. Elizabeth saw Thomas Philip Shea’s banner and said, “He’s so cute! What a nice smile….”
