SOUTH CAYUGA—Thirteen weeks ago on January 12, 2022 South Cayuga Community Church had a “Journey to the Cross Challenge” proposed by Pastor Dawn that the congregation collectively walk or pray, keeping track of kilometres or minutes walked, and/or prayers to walk, from Nazareth to Calvary (Jerusalem). This is a distance of 144 kilometres or about 32 hours. We reached Jerusalem the second week of the challenge, so the challenge was broadened to be walking from South Cayuga to Jerusalem, or 9,581 kilometres! After that, the kilometres tallied each week were a little sluggish and slow. But, as the weeks moved on, the tally was going up as folks gathered friends and recruits to help accomplish the distance to reach Jerusalem by Easter Sunday. We were elated to reach Jerusalem by Good Friday, surpassing the 9,581 kilometres, having walked 10,316 kilometres. After hanging around Jerusalem until Easter Sunday, now we are challenged to walk back home! Will it take us 13 weeks or less? Going home is usually faster than getting there. Kudos to all participants. At left is a photo of South Cayuga Community Church’s Easter service.
