HAGERSVILLE—After a two-year pause due to the pandemic, the Hagersville & District Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to be hosting its 11th annual Santa Claus Parade and Evening with Santa on Friday, December 9, 2022.
The Santa Claus Parade will depart the parking lots of Hagersville Secondary School (HSS) at 6 p.m. – volunteers will begin marshalling floats at HSS at 4 p.m. that evening.
The parade route is as follows:
- Leave HSS along Parkview Road towards King Street East
- Turn left onto King Street East to Main Street
- Turn left (south) onto Main Street South to Parkview Road (official end of parade)
Once the parade reaches Parkview Road, floats can return to HSS, pull into St. Mary’s School parking lot, or simply carry on to their own location.
We are looking forward to the participation of as many local floats as possible along with the return of the many Shriners floats and their marching band.
There is NO entry fee to participate in the parade, but we do require an application and applicable proof of insurance. Application forms are available at hagersvillechamber.ca, by contacting Kaitlin Rankin by email krankin@ timstires.net, or by reaching out to Parade Chairperson Tim Otterman or Chamber President Rob Phillips.
Just a reminder – if you wish to distribute candy or other items along the parade route you must distribute using walkers – it cannot be thrown from a float or vehicle.
The Hagersville Food Bank, assisted by the Heaslip Ford Sales transit van and shopping carts staffed by Hagersville Foodland, will be collecting non-perishable food donations along the parade route.
In addition to the parade, our Evening with Santa will be held at the Hagersville Community Centre. Doors open at 6 p.m. and entertainment by the Haldimand-Norfolk Concert Band will commence at 6:30 p.m. Following the parade, Santa will distribute gift bags to the children in attendance, including a handcrafted Christmas ornament keepsake prepared by Charlie and BJ Garvie. Through sponsorships and community donations, there will be pizza, dessert squares, cookies, coffee, hot chocolate, and juice – FREE to all.
There will also be a reception for the Shriners and the public at Hagersville Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164 following the parade.
Please join us for this amazing community Christmas event as a spectator, as a parade participant, and/or as a sponsor.
