With sadness and hearts full of gratitude for a life lovingly led, we announce the passing of Walter ‘Wally’ Hoover on Friday, July 21, 2023. Recently predeceased by his sweetheart, wife and best friend, Carole. Cherished father and friend to Randy (Sharon), Sandy (Jim), Jimmy (Debbie) and Suzanne (late John). Adored Papa to Erin (Emma), Sarah, Kori, Cody (Michelle), Sheldon (Mitchell), Maggie-Mae, Connor (Rachel), Mackenzie (Justin), Justine (Jarred), AJ (Kristen), Tammy. Greatest Papa to Fox, Hazel, Jace, Nova, Blake, Everette. Walter will be deeply missed by his brother Ken (late Barb), sister Sharon (Don) Adshead, cousins, nieces and nephews. Many dear friends share in the family’s grief including Ron and Olive Armstrong and his musical band of brothers, The Tuxedo Bluegrass Boys. He reunites with beloved parents Duncan and Jean Hoover and sister Lois (Jack) Bowden. Walter was a man of few words and many talents. Most notable was his gift for music and fiddle playing. He traveled near and far, jamming and creating many lasting friendships along the way. He was a founding member of Skyway Bluegrass. Performing alongside his son Jimmy in The Tuxedo Bluegrass Boys for the past eleven years was the highlight of his music career. His hospitality was second to none, whether it be a homemade bottle of wine or a plate of his infamous spaghetti and meatballs. A founder of the Glanbrook Rangers, journeyman with Local 67 and member of the Caledonia Baptist Church, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to his community.  Walter lived a full life and left this world knowing so. He was deeply proud of every one of his family members. His heart simply wasn’t able to carry on without his darling Carole. He passed onward naturally and peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 8th from 6:30-8:30pm at the Caledonia Baptist Church, 401 Argyle St South, Caledonia. Celebration of life service for Walter will be on Wednesday, August 9th, 2023, at 11:00 am, at the Caledonia Baptist Church. Private burial to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
