August 19, 1935 – December 4, 2023
It is with deep sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Thomas James “Jim” Worrall, surrounded by his loving family on December 4, 2023 at Grandview Lodge in Dunnville. Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley, and grandson Shamus, and is survived by his devoted children: Arlene (Mike) Tatarnic, Connie (Rick) Shepherd, Judy (Sean) O’Neill, Brenda (Dan) Kowaleski, Bev (Jeff) Little, and son Ron (Sheri) Worrall. His legacy lives on through his 16 grandchildren and his first great grandchild who loved and cherished him dearly. Jim was born to the late Thomas and Goldie Worrall and was raised on the family farm in Dunn Township along with his sisters Donna (Hack), Shirley (Odelli) and brother, Keith. Following his hard-working childhood on the farm and with a growing family to support, Jim devoted his life to providing for his family, working at Firestone in Hamilton until its closing. Jim was known as an avid outdoorsman always looking forward to moose and deer hunting season with the guys. Jim and Shirley spent many summers camping along the Grand River at the “Rave-A-Way” and exploring remote areas of Northern Ontario creating lasting memories with friends and family who joined them. In retirement, they travelled from Coast to Coast of Canada visiting sites and destinations they had always wanted to experience. Jim loved his time spent at the Firehall with his fellow firefighters and the extended support it provided to his community. He was a charter member of Dunn Station #2 serving for 35 years and achieving the rank of Captain; and was awarded the Ontario Medal for Bravery and the Canadian Star of Courage for his heroic efforts during a Lake Erie rescue. He also cherished his church community and always looked forward to the fellowship of the Men’s Club, and especially the Coffee Hours after a Sunday Service. Jim was known for his warm heart, strong work-ethic, and his steadfast values which his children and others admired most. Dad, we will all miss you forever and we hope you know how special you were to so many people. Whether surrounded by loved ones or assisting others in need, he found happiness in making a positive difference in the lives of those around him.The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Marshview staff at Grandview Lodge for their compassionate care. Visitation was held December 15th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at J.W. Hart Funeral Home in Dunnville. Funeral Service was held Saturday December 16th at 11 a.m. at South Cayuga Community Church directly followed by a Celebration of Jim’s Life, welcoming Friends and Family until 3 p.m. In his memory, donations can be made to the South Cayuga Community Church or the DREAM Foundation ~ Shamus O’Neill Scholarship Fund (dreamtreasurerdunnville@gmail.com).
