It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Dick at Haldimand War Memorial Hospital on Monday, November 27, 2023 in her eightieth year. She is predeceased by her parents, Katherine and Dietrich Dick and her older brother, William (Bill). She will be lovingly remembered by her many cousins, their families and her uncle, Frank Wiens. She had many good friends and Linda requested that Janet Winger, Margaret Youngblut and Erika Isaac, be especially mentioned for their kindness and friendship, supporting her as she faced declining health. Linda spent her life in Dunnville, always living close to the beautiful Grand River. Her long and successful nursing career was spent at the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital in Dunnville. In those 32 years she was a compassionate, caring night nurse. She was an encouragement and example to other staff and deepened her own professional development by taking special courses. In her retirement, she travelled and devoted herself to the care of her beloved mother. She also volunteered in her church community and hospital for twenty years, giving freely of her time and resources. Linda was sustained by a deep and vibrant Christian faith and we will miss her loving, thoughtful spirit. Thank you to the nurses and doctors at Haldimand War Memorial Hospital who guided and supported her. It was important to her that she spend her final days in Dunnville, lovingly cared for by former colleagues and visited by friends and family. Linda found a caring church family at Wainfleet Be in Christ Church, where she served and worshipped. Their prayer support was greatly appreciated by her. Thank you also to Pastors Renee and Trevor for their unwavering care of Linda’s spiritual needs.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Wainfleet BIC Church. This celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 6 at 11am with interment of ashes to follow at Maplelawn Cemetery. If you wish, donations to Mennonite Central Committee in her memory, would be gratefully accepted. Arrangements have been entrusted to BALLARD MINOR FUNERAL HOME, 315 Broad Street East, Dunnville, Ontario N1A 1G4. 905-774-7277. Friends are invited to send condolences and sign the Book of Memories at www.ballardminorfh.ca.
