On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in his 88th year, Mike was reunited with his “Joy-Baby” (Joyce), the love of his life. A true hero to his three girls, Kathy Brunton (Scott), Kimberlee Spurr (Mark) and Michele Mauro (Frank) and the very proud Grandpa to his 7 grandchildren, and his 6 great-grandchildren. Mike is survived by his brothers, John and Walter (Barb), and many extended family. He is predeceased by his parents Mike (1988) and Katharina (2012), and by his sister Kathy (1944). Mike was born in Transylvania, Romania, eventually immigrating to Canada in 1949, moving to Dundas, and eventually Mount Hope and Caledonia in his lifetime. Throughout his career, he worked as a mechanic for different businesses and was self-employed for much of his life. Mike was a loving and dedicated family man. He cared deeply for others and quietly showed his family the meaning of true love. His devotion to Joyce shone through during her final years as he lovingly tended to her needs and expressed his affection through heartfelt poetry and handpicked wildflowers to bring her joy. His memory is a source of strength and we honour him by living the values he instilled in all of us. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the laughter, love, and cherished memories we hold dear. Mike’s legacy is a testament to the incredible husband, father, and grandfather he was.
