Entered into rest on Friday, June 27, 2025 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton in her 85th year. Liz is predeceased by her beloved husband Robert. Liz died just days before her 65th wedding anniversary. Loving mother of Rhonda Bassindale (Randy) and Brenda Armes (Mike Hodge). Dear grandmother of Rob McCormick (Stephanie Manning), Cole Armes and GG to Robbie and Julianna. Sister of Thomas Simpson, Daniel Simpson and the late Marion Leavens. Liz will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. She was a very active member of Canada Calorie Counters as well as the Mount Hope Lions Club and Ancaster Lions Club. Before she retired, she worked in the Ceramic Workshop of the Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital, then she enjoyed years driving a big truck with her husband Bob. She was passionate about NASCAR racing, but most of all, she adored her family. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Brandon Meyers at the Juravinski Cancer Centre as well as all the nurses and staff at RESSCU and those at St. Peter’s Hospital for their compassion and care. Visitation will be held at MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 28 Caithness Street East, Caledonia on Friday, July 4, 2025 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Service for Liz will be held at Miller Funeral Chapel on Saturday, July 5, at 11 a.m. Internment Caledonia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canada Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
