HALDIMAND—A driver is facing multiple charges following a report of a possible impaired driver. On April 17, 2026 at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the Haldimand OPP responded to a business on Highway 6 in Haldimand County.
The investigation determined that the vehicle was involved in multiple minor collisions while it travelled into the area. The vehicle was located by police at a local business and the driver was taken into custody.
A 40-year-old from Selkirk has been charged with:
* Operation while impaired
* Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
* Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
* Having care or control of a motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor
* Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
None of the charges have been proven in court; the accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on May 19.
