OPP Brief: Impaired driving charges laid in two separate collisions

CAYUGA/ DUNNVILLE—Two drivers are facing charges following separate single-vehicle collisions in Haldimand.

On Monday, June 15, 2026 at approximately 9:20 p.m., members from the Haldimand County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Bird Road in Dunnville. 

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 23-year-old from Hamilton, was arrested and charged with: 

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 28, 2026. 

On Sunday, June 21 at approximately 6:10 a.m., members from the Haldimand OPP responded to another single motor vehicle collision, this time on Dry Lake Road in Cayuga.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 65-year-old Six Nations of the Grand River resident, was arrested and charged with: 

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on August 4, 2026. 

The charges have not been proven in court for either individual.
