It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of John William Fearns of Tillsonburg in his 77th year who left us peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on July 5, 2026. Born in St. Catharines, Ontario to Norman and Mary Fearns. John lived a life defined by his dedication to his family, his hard work, and his warm generous spirit. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 58 years, Linda. Their partnership was a true testament to love, teamwork, and unwavering support. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two children; Shelley and Karen. As a father, John was a constant source of wisdom and a guiding light. John had a long and fulfilling career of 31 ½ years with the Ministry of Transportation. He was blessed to be able to retire at the young age of 49. Outside of work, he enjoyed many years travelling with his wife and many family and friends. He was also, an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and humour. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda; his children, Shelley Clarke (Vince), Karen Scaman (Jadie); and his four grandchildren, Tanner, Hailey (Geo), Ethan, Evan and his cherished dogs, Lily and Winnie. He was predeceased by his brothers Norman and Howard and his four-legged companion, Patches. In accordance with John’s wishes, a private family ceremony will be held to honour his life and legacy. A special thank you to all the nurses, PSWs and doctors from Care Partners and Bayshore who provided outstanding and compassionate homecare.
