Jim passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Stedman Community Hospice, Brantford, Ontario. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the caregivers who provided such compassionate, loving, and dedicated care to Jim. Survived by his wife of 48 years, Joanne (Smelser), and their children, Jennifer McLeod (Ian), Jodie Williams (John), and Josh Swing (Jenelle). Loving Grandpa to Charlie, Tanner, and Felix. Step-Grandpa to Brooke, Taylor, Kaellum, Destiny, and Lawson.He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Janet Mohl (Bill†), Catherine Booker (Sheldon), and Bruce Smelser (Marylynne). Predeceased by his sister, Betty Schaeffer† (Denzel†); Joyce Schumacher† (Harvey); Frank Swing† (Judy); Margaret Wilkins†; and Patricia Lewis† (Bill†). Jim will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Jim was a proud member of the Fisherville Lions Club for 20+ years and has requested donations be made to the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides or the Fisherville Lions Club. Jim was very passionate about raising funds to support those in need with a Dog Guide—in particular, Autism Support Dog Guides. As per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
