Janette Stadder (nee Baker) passed away after a brief encounter with pancreatic cancer at her home at the age of 91 on September 19, 2026. Loving partner to Earl Stadder. Mother of Cathy Stadder Wise (Rick) and Grandmother to Sarah and Katie Wise. Mother of Douglas Earl Stadder and Grandmother to Rachel (Jakub), Emily (Luis), William (Bailey), Nolan (Alexia) and Kelly James Stadder and their Mother, Jayne Stadder. Born in Dunnville, Ontario to Mabel and Don Baker. She is survived by her siblings Beatrice McQuillen (Robert) , Tom Baker (Susan), John Baker (Faye) and Helen Green (Rhodes); predeceased by her siblings Barbara Cowan (Dave) and Bill Baker (Debbie). Beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was raised in Dunnville, lived in Caledonia and Windsor, and spent her last 30 plus years back in Haldimand. Janette was the glue that held so many different relationships together. Whether as a mother/grandma/aunt/daughter/sister or friend, Janette lived her life in a way that showed us all the meaning of love, faith, and charity. In modern language, we may call her a generalist – she could bake a wicked pecan pie, milk the cows, or take shorthand as needed. She thought nothing of hopping in the car to drive to Windsor or Sudbury to see her grandchildren and shared her ‘gift of the gab’ with many patients as a volunteer with the Dunnville Hospital for over 20 years. She loved a good hockey game whether in person or on tv, and in her prime was an athlete in her own right.Special thanks to the palliative care team and the staff at Dunnville War Memorial Hospital for their support during this time and to all those who have been part of Janette’s healthcare over the years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Dunnville Hospital and Healthcare Foundation or Faith Centennial United Church in Selkirk.
Family and friends will be received on September 29, 2026, at the Ballard Minor Funeral Home, 315 Broad St. East, Dunnville from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. A service will be held at Faith Centennial United Church, 28 Main St. West, Selkirk on September 30, 2026, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior.
