TOWNSEND—With darkening skies behind them, the Townsend Lions were cooking up a storm on September 21, 2024 to serve close to 100 take-out dinners during their annual chicken barbecue. The delicious meal included a half chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, sour cream, and dinner roll. Lion Christina Hill, chair of the annual event, shared, “Proceeds are going back to the club to be distributed to the community.“
The next big event for the Townsend Lions is Harvest Fest on Saturday, October 12 beginning at 11 a.m. at the park pavilion. The event includes a free luncheon, bake sale, pumpkin decorating, and the collection of mitts, scarves, and hats for the women’s shelter.
