DUNNVILLE—For Kim Tamburri, Program Supervisor, and Steve Schwoob, Facility Operations Supervisor, retiring after 30-plus years each will be bittersweet.
The two began their current positions at Grandview Lodge at the same time and, as it turns out, have decided to retire at the same time on April 25, 2019.
“It’s mixed emotion for me. Both of us aren’t leaving because we are unhappy with what we are doing, we just want a change, a different direction,” said Tamburri about retiring.
Schwoob said, “I love my job here, I love being with the residents, but I’m not going to miss the working part of it so much because I can keep busy at home.”
The pair started as frontline workers, Tamburri 35 years ago and Schwoob 33 years ago, and their careers have changed and evolved over the years. Tamburri mentions having had “great mentors along the way that saw something in each of us that maybe we could do more … We both assumed a supervisory role and then you can even affect more change at that level.”
