HALDIMAND—Council members have responded to a local developer requesting some financial relief for water bills being paid for properties still under construction.
Council voted unanimously to accept recommendations from County staff that will overhaul the old billing system. Currently, developers pay full price on water bills for unbuilt units on a development site as soon as the main line is connected to the site.
The new relief program will offer developers a 50% reduction in the amount of fees payable for a period up to two years after water services are installed on site.
