A Taste of Haldimand – August 1, 2024

At a recent barbecue with friends, there was a colourful display of macarons on the table. I discovered they were made from scratch by 12-year-old Josie Yule. Josie is the daughter of Sarah and Scott Yule of Jarvis, and one of five children.

Josie Yule

She started baking at the age of eight with her mom. More recently, her dad has been sharing time in the kitchen with her and takes on the role of dishwasher!

Josie absolutely loves being creative and enjoys the intricacies of baking such delicate things. But, her talent is not limited to the kitchen. Josie has been competing for a number of years in gymnastics.

She has participated in the Provincial Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Competition in four different events – balance beam, uneven bars, vault, and floor routine. She trains with the Grand River Gymmies in Caledonia. She often makes treats for her gymnastic coaches.

This recipe was found online but, through trial and error, Josie has tweaked it to make it her own. Enjoy!
