“We enjoy cooking but NOT together.” That was the interesting response I received when I asked John and Aimee Beattie about the food they liked to cook. “The way we work in the kitchen is very different from each other.”
John Beattie is originally from Hagersville. He met Aimee at the Michener Institute when they were students studying lab medicine. The couple, along with their young daughter Luna, now reside in Oakville. John grew up working in the kitchen alongside his grandmothers, Wanda Stuart and Bessie Beattie, as well as his Aunt Jean. He enjoys following celebrity chefs and one of his favourites is Alison Roman. Her dishes are simple and easy, using ingredients you usually have on hand.
