This year on Good Friday I noticed a number of restaurants and community groups advertising take-out fish and chips. In the Christian faith, Good Friday is a day of fasting and abstinence from eating meat, thus the focus on fish. It was by chance I learned of a family that got together for the very first time on a Good Friday to make their own fish dinner.

Eric Dowling is a local personal trainer and owner of Vintage Athletics. He and I were discussing our Easter weekend and the family celebrations we had enjoyed. He said his immediate family made their own battered fish for the first time.
