Ever since my oven quit on Boxing Day, I have used my toaster oven for a lot of things. Of course, I also use the stovetop burners and the crock pot too.

I tried this crock pot pork chop recipe and it turned out really well. I cooked them on low heat. When making the pork chops in the crock pot you might want to brown them slightly in a skillet first. They were very tender and have great flavour with an excellent gravy for your potatoes.

I was asked for a chili recipe that uses canned pork and beans. This one uses both the pork and beans and kidney beans. When I made this, I used both cans of beans as suggested but halved everything else and it was successful. I also included a chopped celery stalk and sautéed it with the peppers and onion. I prefer the maple flavoured pork and beans so that is what I used.

The biscuits with 7 Up are easy to make and were a nice accompaniment to the chili.

I haven’t tried these spice rubs but as soon as my oven is fixed I plan on doing so, as they do look as though they would both add great flavour to either your pork or beef roast.
