I had a request for barbecue sauces and, because I don’t have a barbecue, I searched some of those tried and true cookbooks. I found some in the Mary Poppins, Senior Support, Grandview Lodge, United Church, and St. Joseph’s Hospital cookbooks. They were all listed as family favourites. Easy BBQ sauce is a great ‘make your own’ barbecue sauce. This recipe makes 1 ½ cups. Spicy Red Sauce is sweet but spicy and makes ⅔ cup. Horseradish Butter is a good idea to put on steak or fish before serving it. The blue cheese topping makes about ⅓ cup and should be spooned over the top as you remove the meat from the grill. The homemade tartar sauce and dill sauce each make a generous cup of topping or accompaniment on the plate. The flank steak marinade is designed for 2 lbs. of steak, which typically serves 4 people. It is suggested that you slice the steak into strips and drizzle more of the marinade over the top.
