Donna Rowntree is a young mother of six kids who moved to Villa Nova just over a year ago from Washington State. I just recently met her and of course, our conversation turned to food. She told me about these summer sauces and so naturally I asked her for the recipes. I also got the others all from her and she told me that this pumpkin cheesecake is amazing, so I am going to try it soon. It certainly sounds delicious – and easy to make.
Donna’s southern splash barbecue sauce is delicious as a dipping sauce for chicken nuggets or nachos, as well as a sauce to brush over barbecued steak, ribs, or chicken. The recipe as shown makes enough for 8 chicken breasts and it will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Donna often makes this sauce and has substituted both brown sugar and maple syrup for the molasses, although she does prefer the molasses. Her cocktail sauce and tartar sauces are excellent with shrimp and other seafood.
I have not tried any of them yet, but I did try the asparagus pesto pasta and really enjoyed it. I used my hand immersion blender to blend the ingredients together.
Thanks, Donna, for sharing some great recipes with us.
