I made this granola as shown in the recipe. Then I made a second batch using cranberries and almonds. The date mixture was very tasty, but I preferred the cranberries. I baked it 5 minutes longer that the directions said as I didn’t think it was toasted enough, but I wish I hadn’t as the barley flakes became very hard and crunchy.
I had a request for some different dips to be served at a barbecue party. The beer cheese, chive, spicy mustard, and apple dips were suggested to be served with salted pretzels, tostados, or any fresh vegetables. The spinach dip is good with tortilla bites, crackers, or tostados and it was recommended that the chocolate dip be served with any type of fresh fruit.
