My daughter, Allison, recently brought me a container of her homemade soup and it was really delicious. If you don’t have an immersion bender, let the soup cool slightly and puree it in a countertop blender; then simply reheat it. If you freeze the soup let it partially thaw overnight in the refrigerator and heat through, stirring occasionally, adding a little water if necessary.
These cheese croutons make a great addition to any bowl of hot soup. They don’t soak up the soup and become soggy as fast as plain croutons or soda biscuits. You should definitely use day old bread for the best success. I used sourdough and they were great! Cook the grilled cheese slower than you would a grilled cheese sandwich using fresh bread, in order to allow it to become drier and therefore crustier.
You could also serve these 7 Up biscuits with soup or salad. They are quick and easy to make.
When I saw this recipe for lemon squares in an old magazine I was a bit uncertain about using a cake mix, but they worked out really well. I glazed them before I cut them. I don’t recommend lining the pan with parchment paper as I had difficulty spreading the batter. I removed it and spread the batter into the well sprayed pan.
