Dolores May Carter (nee Heitman) passed away peacefully at Garden City Manor, St. Catharines on Friday, September 26, 2025 at the age of 92. Preceded in death by her most loving husband Howard Carter (November 2024), her first husband Thomas Firth (October 2000), as well as precious grandson Michael Smedley (December 1992), three of her brothers and three of her sisters. Dolores is survived by her three children – Rick, Kathy (Nick) and Randy (Minnie), her brother Larry (Dorothy) and her sister Joan (late Orval). Sweet, loving grandmother to Christine, Krista, Laura (Jeff), and Kelly (Joe). Cherished “Gigi” to AJ, Ryan, Mylah, Brielle, Peyton and Hudson. Also survived by Howard’s children Mildred (Dan), Adrian (Janet), Wendy (Steve), Sandra (Bill), Peggy (Gurmit), and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dolores will be very much missed by her many friends, former work colleagues, neighbors, and her church community. She was so blessed to find her partner Howard later in life, and the two of them enjoyed travelling together and visiting many beautiful destinations around the world. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, and cooking – she was an amazing chef! Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to BALLARD MINOR FUNERAL HOME, 315 Broad Street East, Dunnville, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 12 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
