December 30, 1959 – October 25, 2023

It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Gregory Scott Corneil of Cayuga announce his passing at home on October 25, 2023 in his 64th year, after struggling with health issues for a number of years.  Greg will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife and partner of 35 years Terri (Simmons).  He is survived by a loving family including his brothers Bill (Connie) and Bev (Denise), his nieces and nephews Scott Corneil (Annette), Laurie Andrus (Stephen), Jeremy Corneil (Laura), and  Amy Henton (Andy) and mother-in-law Dee Kuret as well as many extended family.  He is pre-deceased by his father Jack Corneil and mother Jean Nisbett. Greg was born in Exeter, Ontario and spent his early years in Hensall before moving to London where he grew up and attended school.  He and his wife shared a home in Grimsby for many years before moving to their home along the Grand River near Cayuga. Over the years, Greg had the personality and natural charisma to enjoy new friends through his many and varied interests of scuba diving, sailing/boating, baseball, skeet shooting and of course breeding and raising his beloved Vizslas with his wife.  He could talk at length about any of these subjects and always welcomed a lively conversation on any topic. He was a life long reader and active member of the Cayuga Library. Losing his father early in his life, he chose to give back to the next generation of children by volunteering for many years in the 90’s with Big Brothers Association of Burlington and Hamilton – Wentworth (now known as Big Brother Big Sisters of Halton and Hamilton).  During those years of service he was a Big Brother to many young boys, sharing activities, mentoring and developing friendships.  He also served as Chair of the Board of Directors 1996/97. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or Big Brother Big Sisters of Halton and Hamilton. At Greg’s request a private cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Online condolences jwhartfuneralhome.com
