It is with broken hearts that the family of Albert Huisman announce his passing in the early morning of November 15, 2023, at his home in Maple Grove Place, Dunnville in his 84th year.

The world has lost a sweet soul who lived simply, loved his family, and had a wonderful sense of humour. He was born in The Netherlands and his family immigrated to Canada arriving on Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia on April 1, 1952. He was predeceased by his common-law partner of over 40 years, Violet Clarke in 2015. Albert is already sorely missed by Violet’s children, Larry Clarke, Violet (Ron) Prosser, Norm Clarke, Valerie (Stan) Posthumus and Lois (Chris) Hagemans. Affectionately called “Pops” he was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents and 10 of his siblings he is survived and will be greatly missed by siblings: Abel, Jan, Hank, Otto, Louise, and Greg (Barb) and all of the Huisman family.

He will also be missed by lifelong friend and fishing buddy Rosino and the crew who met at the Beamsville Tim Hortons for many years. Though his stay at Maple Grove Place was brief, he made fast friends with Dave, Jimmy, and Walt who are missing him. A roofer by trade in the Niagara Region for 40+ years, on any drive throughout the region he would point out roofs he had done. He loved roofing and took great pride in his work. Thank you to the staff at Maple Grove who took good care of Pops while he was there. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
