1928-2023On November 18th, 2023 Joyce (in her 96th year) passed away peacefully in the night. She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) Matthews, children Tom, Susan and Betty (Brian) and grandchildren Brian (Julie), Kevin (Beth), Janelle, Ian (Taralyn) and Matt, and also her treasured great grandson Layton. Joyce was born in New Toronto but raised in Cayuga. After graduating nursing (having been awarded the Florence Nightingale award) she traveled the province with her husband’s work. She was an avid knitter and loved to sew, quite the traveler and was very active in the senior’s community. She enjoyed her cottage life on Lake Erie and was a great fisherwoman. Donations to Children’ Wish Foundation would be appreciated. A very special thank you to the staff at Norview Long Term Care. She thought you were the best and you are. There will be no visitation but please feel free to pass along your remembrances of this wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
