Surrounded by the love of her family, Ruth passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 at the age of 86. Ruth is survived by her loving son, Mark. Predeceased by her loving husband, Paul (August 2024) and her cherished son, Scott (January 2025). Dearly loved and missed by her sister Shirley (Peter deLeeuw) and her sister-in-law, Wendy (Rick Levac). Ruth loved and was loved by her many nieces and nephews, Shelley and Ben Gona, Tracey deLeeuw, Anna Marie Dodge, Stephanie and Arek Rzadkowski, Chris and Nicole Levac. Loving great-aunt to John Peddle, Shaina, Sean, Kaylie and Hayden Gordon, Craig Peddle and Kassidy Schenk, Jessica Dodge and Sam James, Eric and Oakley Dodge, and Zayden Rzadkowski. Fondly remembered by Gabriella Riccio. Ruth was also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Marlene and Bill Shaw, her parents, John and Maude Lawrence, and in-laws, Fred and Shirley Lewis. Ruth’s fur babies Ralphie, Lucy and Sophia gave her much love and happiness. Ruth was a founding member of the Grace United Caledonia, “Along the Grand” Christmas house tour and an original member of “Bells of Grace”. Ruth and family were blessed by many dear friends and neighbours, and Ruth was famous in the neighborhood for her many “Thank You” lemon pies. Ruth’s family would like to thank the staff at RVilla, the Haldimand County Paramedics, and the staff of Hagersville Hospital for their compassionate care for Ruth and her whole family.
Funeral service will be held at Caledonia Presbyterian Church, 117 Argyle Street North, December 6, 2025 at 1 p.m., preceded by visitation from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Reception immediately following the service. Private family interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to the Caledonia Food Bank.
