It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Maria Catharina Johanna Marfisi, née Vanhooydonk, who passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024, at the age of 85. Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as the cherished mother and Oma of David and Donna, Emily (Nick) and Sadie; Danny and Chai, Koen, and Parniga (PJ, Jazmine, Ryan, and Jacob); Steven and Lyn, Alyssa (Margaux and Briggs), Philip, and Amelia; and Duane and Janet. She was also a beloved Zia to Lucy, Maryanne, Ava, and Adriano. Mary was a beloved sister to Betsy, Casey and June, John and Marie, Nancy and Don, and a cherished aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her dear parents, brothers and sisters-in-law Adrian and Willi, Louis, Gina and Mario, her husband Enzo, and her beloved nephew Harry. Mary’s memory will be cherished by friends across the globe for her kindness, love of music, flowers, dogs Missy, Tuffy, and Gracie, and most of all, her unwavering love for her family. She “felt like a millionaire” whenever she was surrounded by her family around the dinner table. Mary will forever be remembered for the love and laughter she shared with all who knew her. A private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to Parkview Meadows, Townsend or Sick Kids Hospital.
