The family of Charles Edward (Ed) McCarthy would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who has shown us kindness, compassion, and support during this difficult time.
No words can express the gratitude we felt for the love shown through flowers, cards, phone calls, house visits, food drop-offs, social media messages, online condolences, hugs, and prayers and donations made in memory of Ed. To everyone who came to the funeral home visitation, funeral service, or Celebration of Life, we are so grateful for your love and support. Thank you Father Stephen for your visits to the house, the prayers and the support you provided. Thank you to Shelly’s Family Dining & Catering for making our dad’s yummy home cooked meals in the final two weeks and of course catering our Legion lunch. Thank you to the Hagersville Legion, to St. Mary’s choir for the beautiful job singing the hymns our dad chose with us before he died including the beautiful guitar playing. Dad would have loved this service so much. Special thanks to Bill Lofthouse and staff from Hyde & Mott for their exceptional compassion and professionalism shown to us. Thank you to all Ontario Health at Home staff that cared for Ed at home in his final couple weeks, who he was very impressed with.
We are beyond grateful to Warren Burger for his amazing job as Master of Ceremony at Ed’s Celebration of Life. Sincere thanks to the multiple other speakers that tributed Ed with their final farewell stories and accolades. A big thank you to the McCarthy and Fowler team for their kindred compassion and support, along with the Chamber of Commerce, Hagersville 150 Committee, Ruthven, The Haldimand Press and the list goes on. We are grateful to dad’s pallbearers: Evan McKeen, Eric Evans, Brent Aitchison, Cary Slote, Jack Brohman and Mike Harmidarow. The family would like to thank the community as a whole. It is such a privilege to see the love Ed has built around him and to be a part of that is beyond comforting and gives us strength. Your kindness has and will keep Ed’s love and passion for his community, coworkers, church, family and friends alive in us all. Thank you so very much.
