It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our ‘Jack’ on December 27, 2025. Jack’s tremendous love of life and love of people were cut short 10 years ago when he began to suffer the effects of FTD, strokes in the frontal lobe of the brain – more commonly known to some as the ‘Bruce Willis’ disease…Jack leaves behind his wife, Theresa (nee Doyle) and his son John (Kait), who became his voice and strength as he walked loyally by his side through every step of this difficult, declining journey. Jack is predeceased by his parents, Tom and Reta Pyke, his father and mother-in-law Wm. and Mary Doyle. He also leaves behind his brothers Tom (Suzi), Tim (Donna), Dan (Eileen), his sister Mary Ann Edwards (Frank), his brothers and sisters-in-law Bill Doyle (Chris), Dan Doyle (Joan), Mary Gordon (†Drew), Robert Doyle (Kate) and Christine Brooks (Jamie). Jack loved to be in the company of his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was proud of the years he played football at Ancaster High and the years he rowed with the Brock University Rowing Team. He was an avid reader, loved history books, could answer any history trivia question, loved all kinds of music, and could make any birthday a celebration when he belted out his renditions of Happy Birthday. When in the best of health, he was happy to travel from one side of Canada to the other in his transport truck. Jack had wonderful experiences and never hesitated to assist anyone in trouble along the way. Jack loved to spend time with his family and loved the Thanksgiving and holidays spent at the family cottage in Thessalon. He will be remembered for his annual around-the-campfire stories of Big Lou. We would like to thank Grandview Lodge for their care this past year. In lieu of donations, the family would appreciate that you make a simple kind gesture or to compliment someone to celebrate the living in memory of Jack’s way.
